Where clay and glaze disagree
“Crazing” a network of fine cracks in a pottery glaze caused when the glaze contracts more than the clay body during cooling, creating tension.
Clay, formless in the earth, is laden with potential.
It responds to shaping, to drying, to firing, to blendings, and combining, texturing, to smoothing, to glazing, to cracking, to chipping, to breaking, to repairing, to being loved and used. It is the beginning of everything we make.
