Convo w Clay

Strangers learn to know each other

Pottery is not just the act of shaping clay and applying glaze then fire, to me, it is more than that. Working with clay is also an act of self meditating, a form of therapy, to go introspective and talk to myself.

There was once a customer who came to us with a fog in her mind and a heavy boulder, she was lost at sea. We set up the table in the middle of the house, we both sat down on the floor, in between our short and soft conversation was the sound of tools rattling and vehicles passing by outside. By the time her craft was done, she also found the answer to her questions, and the burden was lifted. I find myself in that story. And not just the two of us, many personalities coming to MotCucDat later on also shared the same experience.

Which inspired our latest session: A Conversation With Clay.

Is it for you?

If you are between a rock and a hard place, stuck in a mud, swimming against the tide, or having a mental traffic jam and need a place to unload, safe space to slowdown, comfortable silence with a stranger, someone to listen to your story while your fingers are busily distracted by clay; this workshop is for you.

What else?

There will be snacks and drinks; if you are lucky enough, you might encounter our cats; and if you wish for us to sell your product on your behalf, we are more than happy to assist.

But what if playing with clay and talking is enough, I don’t need to bring home anything?

Then there will be no extra charges. We only charge a firing fee when you wish to fire your finished product.

If there is anything else we could help you with on deciding whether to take this class, feel free to flick a message and ask.
